On June 29, 2021, THORChain was exploited via a same-symbol deposit flaw where ERC20 tokens with the 'ETH' symbol were incorrectly identified as genuine ETH, allowing attackers to exchange fake ETH for other tokens and steal approximately $350K. This was the first of three consecutive attacks on THORChain.
